KONE Corporation, press release, February 13, 2012

KONE has been chosen by the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre and Peab to deliver 23 eco-efficient elevators to the Gothia Towers hotel in Gothenburg, Sweden. A new 100-meter high tower will be added to the hotel complex, making it the highest building in Gothenburg. In addition, the 18-story center tower, Crown Tower, will be extended by a further six stories, making it 82 meters high. The three towers, which will contain a total of 1,208 rooms, will be the biggest fully integrated hotel, fair and conference center in Europe.

For the new 29-story tower, KONE will deliver 10 KONE MiniSpace® and one KONE MonoSpace® elevators, which are operated by eco-efficient KONE EcoDisc® hoisting machines. An additional seven MiniSpace elevators will be installed in the Crown Tower. To meet the hotel's requirements for design, accessibility, safety, and environmental efficiency, KONE will modernize the hoisting system and electrification of five existing elevators in the West Tower using the KONE ReGenerate solution. The order also includes KONE Polaris® destination control system that will increase the handling capacity of the elevators and reduce waiting times for the hotel guests. Other innovative technologies will be integrated with the elevators in all three towers, such as the KONE E-Link monitoring system.

"We are very happy that the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre and Peab have shown confidence in us. We have a long-standing partnership with both companies and are very proud to be able to offer one of the biggest hotels in Europe the best People Flow® experience," says Ari Lehtoranta, EVP and Area Director for KONE Central and North Europe.

All three towers will also have KONE panoramic elevators outside the buildings. The new East Tower and the six stories that will be built on Crown Tower will be certified according to the international environmental standard BREEAM.

Construction work has already started and is expected to be completed by the end of 2014. The order was booked in the first quarter of 2012.
