KONE Corporation, a
global leader in the elevator and escalator industry, has won an
order to supply 70 KONE escalators and 13 KONE elevators for the
western section of Beijing's new Metro Line 11.
The 4.2-kilometer-long western section of Line 11, also known as
"Winter Olympic Branch Line", will connect five major areas of
Shougang North District through four stations and provide transfer
to two major metro lines. The new line will serve large-scale
passenger flow during the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games and
facilitate the traffic flow of other major events in the
future.
KONE's delivery includes 70 KONE TransitMaster™ escalators, 12 KONE
MonoSpace® elevators and one KONE TranSys™ freight elevator. In
addition, the contract includes two years of standard
maintenance.
"Beijing Metro Line 11 will be an important part of the Beijing
subway system supporting the development of Shougang North District
and will help make passengers' journeys smoother, safer and easier.
We are delighted to continue our strong role in the development of
Beijing's subway system and bring our solutions and experience to

The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2021 and it
is being developed by Beijing Urban Rail Construction Management
Co. Ltd. The main architect is Tianjin China Railway
Electrification Survey Design & Research Institute Co.
Ltd.
KONE booked the order in the first quarter of 2021.
